Leadership Cadet Corps (LCC)

The program began in DISD in 1991 and was the first of its kind in any middle school in Texas and, as far as we know, in the United States. The mission of the Leadership Cadet Corps is to promote citizenship and to foster a sense of leadership and pride in our cadets. While teaching parts of the first year of leadership as taught in similar military programs, we are not recruiting for any Armed Forces. Our program is an avenue for students to learn respect for others, our school, nation and most of all themselves.

The unit is organized to promote service to the school and to the community. Throughout the school year, we will participate in various civic projects and activities. We will participate in area drill competitions, field trips and other events authorized by the school. We are looking for cadets who will live up to standards of this fine school and who want to share in the high expectations of a successful middle school. To that end, your child will be motivated to actively participate in character building and displaying traits of pride, respect and discipline.
