About the Band Program

The band program at J.L. Long has been steadily growing over the past few years. There are more than 200 kids participating in band and we would love to have as many members as possible! The band consists of Beginner Band (open to students in all grades), Symphonic Band (7th and 8th grade), and Wind Ensemble/Varsity Band (7th and 8th grade, by audition).
 
The Buc Band is truly a family – kids have a group to bond with while developing a lifelong love and appreciation for music. Learning to play an instrument is an amazing thing! It helps students develop confidence and discipline, as well as boosting achievement in other academic areas. What most of the kids will tell you though, is that band is really FUN and one of their favorite parts of the day! The kids have several performances, programs, and competitions throughout the year.
