Dear JL Long parents and guardians,

At J.L. Long Middle School we seek to provide a world-class education. To ensure we are proactively communicating back-to-school registration and schedule change requests, please take a moment to review the procedures for the first three weeks of school. 

Registration

We will be open for registration on Saturday, Aug 12 and Aug 19, from 9 am - 2 pm. You can also come to register your student during the week from 9 am - 12 pm and 1 pm - 3 pm. Please make sure you have the appropriate documentation.

Schedule Change Request 

There are currently two issues with the master schedule:

1. For math and reading courses, students are supposed to have the same teacher during the same time on A days and B days. Some schedules are currently not in sync. Our counselors are working to resolve this issue.
2. If your student has the wrong course on their PowerSchool schedule or is missing a course, then please complete the Schedule Change Request form below.

For the First 3 Weeks of School

Please do not stop by the counseling suite the first two weeks of school, because the counselors need time to keep working on schedules. 

Even though there may be issues with your student’s schedule, please tell them to attend the classes on their schedule until a counselor gives them a new schedule. This will prevent students from being marked absent. 

Schedules will be changed for the first three weeks of school, and this includes leveling of class sizes. We believe schedules will be fixed by September 1, 2023.

Also, students will receive an updated schedule on the first day of school as counselors are working over the weekend to update schedules.
