FROM THE PTA PRESIDENT

Hello Buccaneer Families!

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year at J.L. Long Middle School. Although the past two years have definitely been crazy, we are hopeful this year will be back to normal with volunteers back on campus and holding The Long Run, our biggest fundraiser, in the spring. However, none of this would be possible without our many parent and community volunteers.

One of the best ways to make the most of your student’s time and experience at Long is to be involved. We encourage you to join the PTA, attend the meetings, and volunteer! There are volunteer opportunities on-campus, at school events, or even behind the scenes. Membership is $10 and meetings are open to everyone. Joining the PTA is easy via online on our PTA Website.

You can also volunteer with various booster clubs such as band, theatre, and athletics. To be even more involved, you can attend Site-Based Decision Making (SBDM) meetings, which meet and discuss school related issues, activities, and initiatives.

I invite you to join us for the first PTA meeting of the year on Thursday, September 2^nd at 6:30 p.m. Meetings are open to everyone. To stay in the know, register your family on our PTA Website and you will automatically receive the Buc News our weekly e-newsletter. You can also join us on the J.L. Long Insider group on Facebook . As always the latest information is also posted on the J.L. Long PTA website (www.jllongpta.com) as soon as we receive it.

Because J.L. Long has dedicated teachers and committed staff, parent volunteers, and community support, our students will succeed.

For those who are not able to attend Meet the Teacher, 2020-2021 yearbooks will also be distributed after school from 4:00 - 7:00 pm on Monday, August 23rd.

Meet Our New Registrar!

Our new Registrar this year is Ms. Jessica Rivas Suarez! Ms. Rivas is the person you will contact with excuse notes for absences and any other attendance inquiries. Please visit the PTA website to review attendance guidelines.

6th Grade Soccer

Learn more about the 22nd Season of 6th Grade Soccer and you can sign up to participate here!

There is still time to register for Buc Camp! If you are an incoming 6th Grader or a 7th or 8th Grade student who is new to JL Long, register to attend this fun and informative event! Incoming 7th or 8th Graders who did not attend school on campus last year are welcome to attend as well, but you must register online beforehand.

Check out this year's Dress Code and get all info you need regarding Clear Backpacks/All Day Binders! As a reminder, if your student chooses to wear a backpack this year, only clear backpacks will be allowed. NO MESH BACKPACKS will be permitted.

Registration Update

All students must be registered for the upcoming school year! Click HERE to register your student before the first day of school. PLEASE NOTE: Regardless of your registration status, a printed copy of your proof of residence must be provided to the front office! Students can bring a copy to the office during the first week of school.

Last Day for Pre-Orders!

Visit our Spirit Store by TODAY at noon to order your Spirit Wear for the school year! All pre-ordered items will be available for pick-up at Buc Camp on August 11th until 1:30 pm. On-site sales will be available at that time as well.
