There are 10 days left in the Long Strong Family Giving Campaign... have you donated yet?  All donors $1+ get a Long Strong donor sticker and a FREE DRESS DAY for their student on Friday, September 4th! Appropriate attire, please.

The J.L. Long Peace Pantry is available to any family in our school community and bags of food are sent home each week on Fridays. Your participation is completely confidential! There is no paperwork or qualification process. To sign up and get more details, contact Ms. Zamora (Parent Support Specialist) at audzamora@dallasisd.org or find her at school. Weekly bags of food will start Friday, September 11.

To donate to the Peace Pantry: please order today from the Wish Lists below to have supplies and food shipped directly to school. Thank you for your generosity and for caring for our school community!

Thanks to PTA Committee members Chrissy Crews, Elizabeth Hintlian, Shannon Stuart and Shannon's dad, John Hughes (proud Buc Grandpa) for all their proactive, hard work so our staff and students could start the year off with fresh spaces!!

The impressive beautification list to kick off school includes but is not limited to: painting walls and the Long/BUCS logos, adding welcome signage, improving the staff private space/Mother's Room, updating bulletin boards throughout the school, beautifying the front of the school by adding plants, mulch to bed, bows to trees, and lots of water to grow. WOW! 

Online ordering will reopen on August 24th, and the next in-person sale and pickup event will be held on September 3rd from 3:45 PM to 4:15 PM in the Spirit Store. Be sure to follow @JLLongPTA on Instagram or check our website for restocking announcements and store updates in the coming weeks!

Spirit Store is located in Room 237; when you walk in main doors, take a left and it is in the hallway between the gym and Zoo Crew!

This unique club empowers middle school youth to become conservation leaders! Every day, students are inspired to love and care for 16 animals (and growing!) on the campus of J.L. Long Middle School. Through the Zoo Crew program, our youth learn about the animals' needs, as well as about their various habitats and ecosystems. 

Hosting an animal outside of school is also extended to our club members, who can then continue the care and love for these creatures over the summer and holidays. 

The club meets BEFORE school at 7:15am and ends by 8:00am, so kids can get breakfast and get ready for the school day. 

High academic grades, obeying the rules, and respectful behavior at all times is expected in caring for these creatures.

Have you ever held a rat eating python named Medusa? Our students have!
