RE-ENTRY SURVEY
We Need 100% Participation!

Help our Teachers and Administration prepare for the return to school by letting them know if your student will be returning to campus for instruction on October 5th (September 28th for 6th Grade) or if he/she will remain in the distance learning format.

We are about 100 surveys away from reaching 100% participation!

Each campus has been assigned its own survey.  Please be sure to complete the survey for your student's specific school!

JL Long Re-Entry Survey
CLEAR BACKPACKS

JL Long has a detailed plan to keep our students returning to on-campus learning safe. In an effort to make the entry into the building more efficient and to make passing periods easier to manage for our students, we will be allowing the option to use clear backpacks for school supplies.

Please read details below for rules/expectations regarding the use of clear backpacks this year and reference the pictures below for acceptable clear backpacks:

  • The use of a clear backpack is NOT REQUIRED.  Students still have the option to use the All Day Binder as described on our PTA Website.
  • Students may NOT put the All Day Binder in a clear backpack.  All school supplies are to remain visible within the backpack.
  • Clear backpacks covered with stickers and logos will not be allowed. Small monograms, logos or personalization are permitted.
  • Students who bring their lunch to school are NOT required to use a clear lunch box.
  • Girls may still bring a small purse or attach a small, non-clear pouch to their backpack for personal effects.

Please Note

    • Students will be expected to carry their own laptop/Chromebook with them to and from school and to each class during the day.  Please be sure that your backpack is large enough to fit your laptop, notebooks/spirals and all necessary school supplies.

    • Due to COVID 19 restrictions, water fountains will not be accessible to students while at school.  Please have your student bring a water bottle to school each day.

    • Students will be carrying a portable plexiglass divider with them throughout the school day.  Please ensure that whether they carry a binder or backpack that they have a free hand to carry their divider with them from class to class.

***Students MAY NOT use BOTH a clear backpack and an All Day Binder. They must pick either the clear backpack OR the All Day Binder***

Why Only Clear Backpacks?

Clear backpacks will allow faculty who are admitting students into the building each morning to move everyone through the line more efficiently and safely.  By having school supplies visible through the clear bag, faculty will be able to screen students’ temperatures and view what is in their backpacks without having to open binders.

Are Clear Backpacks a Requirement?

No.  Students may choose to carry an All Day Binder instead of a clear backpack.  Please note, however, that your student may not just put their All Day Binder inside their backpack.  The purpose of the backpack is to have all supplies visible for teachers and staff while making it easier for students to carry everything from class to class.

Where Can I Purchase a Clear Backpack?

Clear backpacks are sold at most major retailers such as Wal-Mart, Target and Amazon.  Prices range from $11.99 - $45.99.

All clear backpacks should have school supplies visible to faculty at all times.  Writing utensils and other small supplies should be placed in the front pouch of the backpack (if available).

Backpacks covered with stickers or logos are NOT permitted.  Small logos or monograms will be allowed as well as backpacks with varying colored straps/trim.
