All student ID badges have been printed and distributed to students. Wearing the Dallas ISD Universal ID is a required part of the daily school uniform. Please speak with your student to ensure they have their ID badge with them every morning before leaving for school. 

Forgotten Badges: If left at home, please remind your student to bring and wear it daily. 

Lost Badges: Replacement badges cost $5 and must be purchased if lost.

How to Purchase: Replacements can be bought online via this link or in person with Mrs. Ibarra.

Students may bring their donation items to Ms. Bollin. There will soon be student made donation boxes for item dropping.

Please make sure you are registered and cleared in VOLY before volunteering for anything school related, including field trips. It only takes a few minutes!

Some J.L. Long events may take place on the Woodrow Wilson campus. Please also select Woodrow Wilson High School in VOLY, so you are cleared to volunteer at both campuses.

The generosity of our Long community is truly overwhelming. A huge thank you to our Long Strong Committee, who worked so hard behind the scenes and planted more than 200 signs throughout our surrounding neighborhoods to help spread the word. We are so grateful for everyone who supported the campaign.

Long Strong shirts and other swag will be delivered later this month for $250+ donors. We will text you upon delivery!

Our next PTA meeting is Wednesday, September 9, in the auditorium. This month, we will have an abbreviated PTA meeting beginning promptly at 5:30 PM, followed by Principal Chevez’s presentation on J.L. Long’s STAAR Accountability Rating. 

SBDM will meet as planned following the presentation.

The J.L. Long Peace Pantry is available to any family in our school community and bags of food are sent home each week on Fridays. Your participation is completely confidential! There is no paperwork or qualification process. To sign up and get more details, contact Ms. Zamora (Parent Support Specialist) at audzamora@dallasisd.org or find her at school. Weekly bags of food will start Friday, September 11.

Calling all 6th–8th grade students! Does your child enjoy sharing ideas, solving problems, or taking on exciting challenges? The J.L. Long Debate Team is the perfect place to build confidence, make new friends, and have fun while learning valuable skills.

Debate helps students become stronger critical thinkers, public speakers, readers, writers, and researchers. These skills can improve classroom participation and support greater academic achievement across all subjects.

Practice Information

Tuesdays and Thursdays

4:15–5:15 p.m.

Students will also participate in monthly tournaments, competing against talented students from across Dallas ISD. These events provide exciting opportunities to work as a team, represent J.L. Long, and celebrate their accomplishments.

No debate experience is necessary—just curiosity, commitment, and a willingness to learn!

Students may join through September 11. Encourage your child to discover the power of their voice and join the J.L. Long Debate Team!

ARRRRRRRRRR you ready to find your voice, get the scoop, tell great stories?.....If this is you, then please join me, Mr. Jones, in becoming a new member of our new Pod Casting Club, called "Long Story Short".  Our first meeting will be on September 8th, at 4:20-5:20 in room 232.  If you have not already picked up info about this club, please p/u the information in Mr. Jones' room, 232. Zoo Crew 2026-2027 is almost ready to launch.  We have members from last year attending the animals as we prepare to join the new members on September the 8th, with a kick off meet and greet donut party, September 11th.  Also the group will meet our animal family, parent booster council, and sponsors. We cannot wait to welcome you aboard. If you still have not signed up, you need to see me, Mr. Jones, in room 232 for the QR Code.
