 Starting Aug. 12, Dallas ISD will enforce HB 1481, a new Texas law banning student use of personal electronic devices during the school day. This includes phones, smartwatches, tablets, laptops, AirPods, and smart glasses.

Elementary: Teachers will collect devices and store them securely until dismissal.

Secondary: Students will use pouches to store devices, which can be unlocked at the end of the day.

If pouches aren’t available on day one, campuses will have a plan to secure devices in backpacks.

We hope everyone's summer has been relaxing, yet filled with hard work as we prepare for the upcoming school year and athletic seasons!  I'm attaching a "Summer Cheat Sheet" page for families to reference in order to be ready for all things Sports at Long!

One of the biggest things to look out for are the changes being made to our SportsYou app.  If you don't already have it, this app is where all of our announcements will be made regarding sports.  If you are a returning athlete, the current SportsYou pages for all the sports will be deleted Monday, July 14th.  In its place, new ones will be made available.  The new codes for these pages will be at the top of the cheat sheet! 

I will also drop blank physical forms if needed!

**You are able to place online orders for in-person pick up at Buc Camp in August. If the item you want is not in stock, check back later in the summer. More inventory will be added as it becomes available from our vendors. In person shopping will also be available before and after Buc Camp on 8/6/2025 as well as immediately after school on 8/14/2025.**

Online order pick-up & shopping days during the school year will be in the front hallway of JL LONG on the FIRST Thursday of every month from 3:45 to 4:15pm, unless indicated otherwise. All orders made by the Tuesday before the Thursday pick-up date will be available for pick-up. Any orders made after Tuesday will be available at the next scheduled pick-up date. Parents and/or students may pick-up an order.
