SAFETY PROTOCOLS

Buccaneers,

Dallas County recently returned to level Red as the new Omicron variant has proven to be more easily transmitted than previous strains. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) anticipates the number of positive cases will increase over the next few weeks.

Dallas ISD’s mask requirement, along with other safety measures, has helped keep the number of positive cases down across the district. As staff return to work and classes resume, adhering to the mask protocol will be critical to controlling the spread and keeping students in classrooms. We will continue our mask and quarantine protocols and reassess at spring break.

We remain committed to following established safety measures:

  • requiring masks
  • encouraging vaccinations
  • practicing social distancing
  • continuing cleaning and hygiene efforts, and
  • frequent testing.

Anyone testing positive for COVID is required to isolate at home for 10 days. Those who are fully vaccinated and are deemed a close contact will not be required to quarantine if they are not displaying symptoms.

If you are unvaccinated and deemed a close contact, you must report the exposure to Health Services by calling 972-925-4211.  You may be required to quarantine by Health Services.  Remember, close contact is defined as a 15-minute or more exposure to someone who is COVID positive. As always, anyone who displays symptoms of COVID-19 should stay home and contact their health care provider.

If you test positive, you will be eligible for the Emergency Paid Sick Leave (EPSL) which will pay 10 days from your COVID-positive test date.  To apply for EPSL, email BenefitsLeaves@dallasisd.org or call 972-925-4300 to speak with a Benefits Department representative. To process your request, you will be required to submit your COVID-positive test result from a lab or your physician. Please note, home tests are not accepted at this time. Additionally, Health Services directed quarantine does NOT make you eligible for EPSL.

The safety and well-being of our students and staff continues to be our top priority. Thank you for your support and commitment to helping keep everyone safe.
