MARVEL SPIRIT WEEK

PASSING PERIODS / TARDY FREEZES

In an effort to answer parent questions regarding how passing periods work during the school day, the JL Long Administration has provided an example for the timing of a typical passing period.

Zone 1 - is released @ 9:32 am

Zone 2 - is released @ 9:33 am

Zone 3 - is released @ 9:34 am

Tardy Warning Bell: 9:36 am

Tardy Sweep Announcement: 9:38 am

In order to better maintain social distancing during passing periods, students have been divided into to 3 zones that are given their own dismissal time. Students have a minimum of 4 minutes for their passing period before they are considered tardy.

Tardy freezes have been implemented and they are random to ensure all students are arriving to class on time.

Listed below are the consequences for consistent tardiness during passing periods:

Tardy 1: Warning

Tardy 2-3: Lunch DT (Detention with Instructional Coach)

Tardy 3-4: After School DT (Detention with Instructional Coach)

Tardy 5-6: Intervention Plan (Assistant Principal/Reset Coordinator)

Tardy 7 or MORE: Parent Shadows student to “Every Class”

Help Support Our Zoo Crew!

Zoo Crew is one of the most beloved of our many after school programs at JL Long, and they need our support more than ever! Please consider donating to the Donors Choose that has been set up to help keep this program strong this year.

Picture Day is October 18th

Get ready for school pics! Pictures will be taken on October 18th during students' Fine Arts classes or during their Health/Computer classes. There will be an all call in 8th period for any students who have not take a pic.

Make-ups are scheduled for November 18th.

Help Us Make a Difference!

Our Fall PTA Membership Drive is underway! Every membership purchased helps us bridge critical gaps in funding with DISD, and assists in making our school the best it can be!

PTA Members will have access to our school's online directory, and they can also enjoy access to special programs and discounts offered by the Texas PTA.

Attention 8th Grade!

J.L. Long Middle School 8th graders will have the chance to take the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) exam on October 20th. Dallas ISD will cover the fees involved with takin the test.
