STAAR Tests are fast approaching! In an effort to keep parents informed of the requirements established by the TEA for student testing and safety, JL Long Administration will be hosting parent meetings via Zoom for the each grade (schedule below). Parents are encouraged to attend and learn about the plan that our school has enacted to test students safely and effectively.

Specific testing dates are still being finalized and will be published in the next week via the outlets listed above. The first STAAR Test will be the 7th Grade Writing STAAR on April 6th.

VIRTUAL STUDENT YEARBOOK PHOTOS

Introducing Selfie!: A virtual yearbook photo option for distance learners.

Click HERE, type in your student's ID number, and follow the guidelines for an acceptable picture to be included in the yearbook. The deadline is April 10th at midnight. Please don't delay this process!

INCLEMENT WEATHER DAYS

There is NO SCHOOL Friday, April 2 or Monday, April 5.

Buc Band Fundraiser

Support the JL Long Band while pampering yourself! Book a nail appointment during the month of March at VIE Nail Bar and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Band!

Lifetime Membership Nominations

Do you know of a teacher, staff member, or a parent who has gone above and beyond? If so, please consider nominating him or her with a PTA Lifetime Membership!

Please send nominations, with a brief description, to Lauren Maggard at ltmaggard@att.net. by Wednesday, March 31. Nominations will be voted on in late April and honorees will be announced in May.

Soccer Tryouts

Tryouts for the Spring Soccer Season for Boys and Girls will take place Tuesday, April 6th 4:00 pm - 5:45 pm at Randall Park. An informational meeting for Girls Soccer will take place TODAY after school at 4:00 pm in the Auditorium. Click HERE for the information that was covered in last week's meeting for boys.

School Trip Meeting

Mrs. Smith will be hosting a Zoom Meeting on Wednesday, March 31st at 6:00 pm to discuss details regarding the 2022 Trip to New York and Philadelphia. It's not too late to sign up for the trip. Click HERE to view details regarding the trip and join the Zoom call.

Mockingbird Elementary Auction

On behalf of the PTA, we are pleased to announce that the 2021 Mockingbird Elementary School Auction, Deep in the Heart, will take place on Friday, April 30, 2021 at the Dallas Heritage Village.

Auction tickets will be available beginning Thursday, March 25th at 7pm along with details of our live performers.
