REQUEST TO CHANGE LEARNING MODEL

Dear JL Long Families -

Dallas ISD will continue to follow the current educational models offering on-campus and virtual learning for students based on parent preference. The district remains committed to following extensive safety protocols, which include social distancing in classrooms, hallways, offices, and elevators; masks are required for every staff member and students throughout the day; hand washing practices are regular parts of everyone’s day; thorough cleanings are scheduled at each campus and district facility; and contact tracing measures are in place and being followed.

If parents want to change from on-campus to virtual learning, please fill out the information using this link.

Please note that if you have been distance learning and choose to return to on-campus instruction, you must wait to do so until the beginning of the next 9-week grading period.  Students who wish to begin distance learning may do so following school day after turning in the Distance Learning/On Campus Learning Model Change Request Form.

The district’s COVID-19 dashboard is available in English and Spanish, and updated daily at 5 p.m. for everyone to view and follow the positive cases reported at each campus. The Dashboard will be the main form of campus wide notification regarding positive COVID-19 cases.  Contact tracing will continue to occur when a positive case occurs, and if anyone is identified as a close contact, they will be notified.

The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority. We appreciate our students, parents and staff for their understanding and flexibility during these unprecedented times.

The front office staff has been provided the form to record responses of families who need assistance.

Thank you,

Chandra Hooper-Barnett

THE LATEST FROM LONG

If your student is interested in joining Pride Alliance this year, please have them fill out this form. Pride Alliance is JL Long’s GSA (Gender and Sexuality Alliance), where our number one goal is to create a safe space for students, no matter what their gender identity or sexual orientation may be. We will be meeting on Tuesdays from 4:30-5:15. We’ll be sending out permission slips to guardians via email based on the Google Form responses. If you have any questions before signing up, you can email Ms. Story (ASTORY@dallasisd.org) or Mr. Rios (DRIOS@dallasisd.org)

PSAT Testing

8th Grade Students will take the PSAT on campus on Wednesday, October 21.  Parents of virtual students are asked to fill out the 8th Grade PSAT Form to let us know if your student will attend testing on campus.  PSAT Testing will take place on campus only as there is no option for remote testing at this time.

Buc Band Fundraisers

The JL Long Buc Band is currently having two fundraisers.  Protect yourself and others with a Buc Band Mask OR you can contribute to the Band's Cash Cow Fundraiser.  Be on the lookout for texts and e-mails from band students with more information.  For more details on our fundraisers, click HERE!

DISD COVID Dashboard

Stay informed on the latest data regarding positive COVID1-19 cases in DISD.  The Dashboard is updated every weekday at 5:00 pm with any new cases in the district.  Individual campus data is provided as well.  Please note that the Dashboard will serve as the main form of campus-wide communication regarding positive COVID cases at the school.  Individuals who have come into close contact with a confirmed positive case will be notified within 24 hours.
