Fall Break! No School October 8-12.

Testing is coming! Please keep the following dress code and supply guidelines in mind for Monday, October 5th through Wednesday, October 7th. Students do not need to bring backpacks to school these days. Lunch boxes and water bottles are still welcome and encouraged! Jeans are approved with school-appropriate tops (does not need to be uniform top). No pajamas, sweatpants or leggings.

We want to hear from YOU! Parents and guardians, please complete the Dallas ISD Fall 2026 Family & Community Survey by November 20th. Your feedback helps us grow stronger together! 

Calling all incoming 6th graders and families for the 2027-2028 school year!! Please spread the word to attend one of the upcoming tours of J.L. Long and RSVP here.

Donations are being collected through October 16 to help students create Hope Boxes for breast cancer patients at Baylor Scott & White. Donation boxes are located at the school entrances.

The 6th grade class is leading the drive, but everyone is welcome to participate! Donate individual items or fill an entire Hope Box.

The dance committee need supplies, donations, and volunteers to make the 7th grade Long dance a success! Please sign up here. 

Supplies may be dropped off at 6709 Sondra Drive or brought to the gym on October 2nd between 5:30-6:00 PM. We are collecting all monetary donations via Venmo - @EmilyDPerry (last 4 digits are 5714).

Our Buc Band fundraiser is going strong! Help us provide every member of the Buc Band with the best experience! Click here to donate. 

For many of our students, this is the first time they get to learn to read music and play an instrument. This is a life long skill! Our fundraiser supports providing them instruments, maintaining them, and opportunities to showcase their talent and proudly represent J L Long in the community. These opportunities require transportation, uniforms, food and a host of other supplies. Please consider investing in music and sharing our donation link with your music loving friends. Buc Band appreciates your help!

The Lakewood Early Childhood PTA donated more than $500,000 to the Woodrow Wilson feeder pattern schools last year, including $105,000 to Long!! This extremely generous contribution to our school's budget is made possible by the proceeds from LECPTA's Home Tour & Auction Party weekend coming up on November 6-8. Make plans to attend and/or volunteer at the houses to make everything run smoothly! 7th graders and older may volunteer and earn hours for organizations such as NCL and NJHS by signing up here.
